The waterproofing
The landscaping design calls for several feet of thickness of
soil on the exterior side of this wall.
No serious thought has been
given to this wall design. The contractor did not take care either.
The
concrete backup wall is carelessly coated with liquid waterproofing but voids
are left. Masons started filling the cavity with grout [read: dumped old,
partially cured mortar and debris]. No continuous thru-wall flashing has
been designed nor installed.
The proper design should provide a right waterproofing
consisting of a moisture barrier and a thru-wall flashing leading water outside
to the drainage line and a drainage line with a working outlet to the sewage
system.
